New Star's hedge funds seek to provide positive absolute returns in all market conditions.

 

New Star's investment philosophy for its hedge fund business is consistent with its high-alpha, focused long-only business. Hedge fund managers are encouraged to be independently-minded in their investment decision making and therefore have the freedom to back their own judgement.

 

As well as the individual hedge funds, New Star also offers the New Star Managed Hedge Fund, a fund of New Star's hedge funds. This actively allocates amongst the funds and employs a dynamic risk overlay through index hedging, providing investors with simple and efficient access to New Star's hedge funds.

 

Hedge fund assets under management totalled approximately £1.1 billion at the end of May 2007.
