New Star wins seven categories at Lipper Funds Awards UK 2007

• Winner: New Star Extra High Yield Bond Unit Trust
• Winner: New Star Sterling Bond Unit Trust

New Star Asset Management is pleased to announce that it has won seven highly-coveted category awards at the Lipper Fund Awards UK 2007. New Star’s investment talents were recognised across three bond funds, two international equity funds and a UK equity income fund. For three funds this was the second year in succession that they had topped their respective categories.

The winning funds are listed below:

• The New Star Global Financials Fund, managed by Guy de Blonay, won two categories for its performance in the Lipper Banks and Other Financials sector. The fund came top in both the three-year and five-year categories. The fund had previously won the three-year category at the 2006 awards. 
• The New Star UK Strategic Income Unit Trust, managed by Paul Craig, won the highly competitive Lipper UK Equity Income sector over three years. This marked the second year in a row that the fund had won this category.
• The New Star Pacific Growth Unit Trust, managed by Ian Beattie, came first in the Lipper Asia Pacific excluding Japan sector for the strength of its 10-year performance. 
• The New Star Fixed Interest Unit Trust, managed by Theo Zemek, topped the Lipper Pound Sterling – Corporates sector for its three year performance. The fund won the same category at the 2006 awards.
• The New Star Extra High Yield Bond Unit Trust, managed by James Gledhill, won the category for best three-year performance in the Lipper Global-High Yield sector.
• The New Star Sterling Bond Unit Trust, managed by Phil Roantree, won the best fund over 10 years in the Lipper Pound Sterling – Corporates sector.
