Hat trick! New Star wins Citywire Team All Stars Award for third year running.

06.10.2006

New Star is delighted to announce that it has been recognised as the overall winner in the Citywire Team All Stars 2006 Awards. This is the third year in a row that New Star has won this prestigious accolade - a unique achievement.

The Citywire 'overall champions' awards are based upon individual fund managers' risk-adjusted performance*. The awards compare asset management groups on a like-for-like basis across 15 key IMA sectors.

John Duffield, chairman of New Star Asset Management, says:
"Winning the Citywire Team All Stars Award for a third year in a row is a remarkable achievement and a great endorsement of the exceptional skills of our fund management team. It is especially pleasing to win this particular award because it is won on risk-adjusted performance and not awarded on the opinion of a judging panel. I believe objective fact is much more important than subjective opinion."

Methodology

*The 2006 Team All Stars awards were designed to reflect better the depth of a group's expertise within 15 key IMA sectors and the four asset groupings they comprise. Unlike in previous years, when the scores were based on risk-adjusted performance over a single discrete 36-month period (the last being 30 June 2002 to 30 June 2005), this year's analysis goes a step further and analyses the cumulative performance over all of the discrete 36-month time periods over the course of the year. Winners in each category have returned the best risk-adjusted performance over an entire 'season', rather than scooping the award for producing the best 36-month performance at the right time.
