Stephen Whittaker is Joint Chief Investment Officer at New Star. With 28 years' experience in the investment industry, Stephen built his reputation at Invesco Perpetual. He joined New Star in 2002. Stephen holds an LLB in Law from the University of Manchester.

Gregor Logan
Joint chief investment officer
Gregor Logan, Joint Chief Investment Officer and fund manager, joined New Star in 2004. He has 30 years' investment experience. Gregor was previously chief investment officer of Pavilion Asset Management and MGM Assurance, prior to which he worked for 13 years at Fidelity International. Gregor holds an LLB in Law from Edinburgh University.

Mark Beale
Deputy chief investment officer and US equity fund manager
Mark Beale, New Star's Deputy chief investment officer, has 22 years' investment experience. Having developed formidable expertise in both global and US equity markets, Mark oversees New Star's US investments. Mark joined New Star Institutional Managers* in 1982. Mark holds a BA in Economic History from the University of Sussex.

Richard Lewis
Co-head of institutional equities and European fund manager
Richard Lewis, European excluding the UK equity fund manager, has 21 years' European investment management experience. He joined New Star Institutional Managers* in 1989 from Capel-Cure Myers Capital Management. Richard holds a BSc in Economics and Statistics from Bristol University.

Donald Pepper
Head of alternative investment
Donald, who has 21 years' experience in financial services, joined New Star in 2008. Prior to joining, he headed prime brokerage sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Merrill Lynch having worked in prime brokerage and fixed income sales at Goldman Sachs. Donald is a CFA charterholder and was educated at Queen's College, Oxford, where he read philosophy, politics and economics.

John Mould
Chief operating officer
John Mould has 18 years' experience in finance, accounting and operations. He joined New Star in 2005 from Morgan Stanley International, where he was London head of firm-wide operational risk. Previously he was executive director of finance at Morgan Stanley Europe, where he was responsible for management information and reporting.

Simon Hillenbrand
Managing director, UK sales
Simon Hillenbrand, managing director of UK retail sales has worked in the investment industry for 13 years. Before joining New Star in 2002 he was a regional sales manager for Invesco Fund Managers. Prior to this he worked for Deutsche Asset Management, initially in broker services and then as a regional sales manager covering the South West.

Stewart Cazier
Managing director, retail business development
Stewart Cazier joined New Star in January 2001. Prior to joining New Star he was chief operating officer at Norwich Union Investment Funds, which he helped to establish with Mark Skinner in 1998. He joined Eagle Star in 1988, before moving to help set up NatWest Life in 1992.

Greg Jones
Managing director, international sales
Greg Jones joined New Star in 2001 having worked in the investment industry since 1985. He started his career as a portfolio manager for Sedgwick and has, more recently, held a number of sales management roles with Schroder Unit Trusts, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and with Norwich Union Investment Funds as head of strategic alliances. At New Star he is also head of Nordic markets.

Richard Wilson
Marketing director
Richard Wilson, who has 21 years' experience in the investment industry, started his career at Save and Prosper. He then moved to Prolific Unit Trust Managers and joined the executive team at Aberdeen Asset Management following its acquisition of Prolific. Prior to joining New Star, he was Aberdeen's UK and European marketing director.

Simon Akroyd
Head of private clients
Simon joined New Star from Aberdeen Asset Management in June 2003 where he was managing director of their private portfolio management division. Prior to Aberdeen he spent 14 years at Cazenove, latterly as a fund director and head of the private unit trust desk, with responsibility for substantial global client assets.

Ian Lewis
Head of UK institutional clients
Ian Lewis joined New Star in June 2004 from UBS Global Asset Management, where he was head of UK consultant relations. He was a key member of the team behind the resurgence of UBS's UK institutional asset management business. Prior to UBS, he worked in the institutional business of Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. Ian has spent eleven years as a pension fund investment consultant and eight years in investment management business development.

Jonathan Bloom
Company secretary
Jonathan Bloom has 14 years' experience in corporate law. He joined New Star in 2008 from Woolworths Group, where he was company secretary between 2001 and 2008, having previously been company secretary at VCI. After studying law at Manchester University, he joined Norton Rose, where he trained and practised as a corporate lawyer.
