New Star’s Asian Opportunities Fund retains its AA rating according to S&P

23.01.2008

The latest Standard & Poor's review of the Dublin-domiciled New Star Asian Opportunities Fund, a sub-fund of the New Star Global Investment Funds PLC, has resulted in the fund maintaining its AA-rating.

S&P said of the New Star Asian Opportunities Fund:
"Performance over the medium to longer term has been above average and the fund maintains its S&P AA rating."

The New Star Asian Opportunities Fund is managed by Ian Beattie and co-managed by Lucy Bernays, who combine bottom-up stock selection with macroeconomic analysis to identify growth opportunities throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The fund focuses on companies that are genuinely creating shareholder value and are exhibiting positive future trends, with particular use made of Economic Value Added methodology.

Gregor Logan, joint chief investment officer at New Star Asset Management, said:
"The S&P verdict for the AA-rated fund is further validation of the fund's proven investment style. The above-average performance of the fund is testament to Ian's investment philosophy."
