
Stephen Whittaker is joint chief investment officer at New Star. With 28 years' experience in the investment industry, Stephen built his reputation at Invesco Perpetual. He joined New Star in 2002. Stephen holds an LLB in Law from the University of Manchester.

Before joining New Star in 2001, Tim Steer established himself as one of the most successful company analysts in the UK medium and small company sectors, an area in which he has 20 years' experience. Tim holds a BSc from the University of London and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Tim Bray joined New Star Institutional Managers* in 1985 from Coutts & Company. He has 19 years' investment experience. Tim is chairman of New Star's institutional asset allocation committee and a member of the institutional investment policy committee. Tim holds a BSc in Financial Economics from the University of London.

Toby Thompson has 19 years' investment experience. Prior to joining New Star in 2002, Toby was a highly successful fund manager at Newton, where he managed the Newton Higher Income Fund. Toby holds an MA in Economics from Edinburgh University.

Charles Deptford joined New Star in June 2008. Prior to joining New Star he was Head of UK Retail Equities at Baring Asset Management where he managed an Equity Income fund and a UK Growth fund.

John Cornes is the investment adviser to the New Star Monthly Income Unit Trust. He commands great respect in the investment industry having built up 39 years' experience working at M&G, Framlington, Brown Shipley, Taylor Young and currently UBS.

Trevor joined New Star in June 2008 as a UK equity fund manager from RCM (UK) Ltd., where he was a director. Prior to this, Trevor was a portfolio manager for UK and European Equities with Credit Suisse Asset Management. During his five years with Credit Suisse, Trevor was an associate director and then director within the UK equity team. Trevor started his career as a fund manger at Capel Cure Myers in 1990 with responsibility for its UK Smaller Companies Fund.

Jamie Allsopp joined New Star in 2001 and worked as an analyst before becoming a fund manager in 2003. He has specialised in UK equities across the market capitalisation range. Jamie holds a BA in Combined Studies from Newcastle University.

Edward Collins joined New Star in 2002 and began work in portfolio management in 2003. He has specialised in UK equities across the market capitalisation range. Edward holds a BA in Political Science from Durham University.
