James Gledhill is Head of Fixed Income and has 16 years' investment experience. Prior to joining New Star in 2002, James worked at M&G. James holds a BA in Metallurgy and Science of Material from the University of Oxford.
Phil Roantree has 22 years' investment experience. He joined New Star in 2003. Previously he headed the investment grade credit team at Aberdeen Asset Management and was manager of the Aberdeen Sterling Bond Unit Trust, where he won the Bloomberg Investment Week Corporate Bond Fund of the Year Award in both 2000 and 2001.
Simon Ward is Global Strategist as well as Head of Research for the institutional business and a member of the institutional business investment policy committee and currency group at New Star. He has 25 years' experience of financial markets. Prior to joining New Star Institutional Managers*, he was senior economist with Lombard Street Research. Simon holds a Masters in Economics and Finance from the University of London.

Nick Hayes joined New Star in 2002 and has developed his fund management skills alongside his highly-rated fixed income colleagues, James Gledhill and Philip Roantree. Prior to joining New Star, Nick worked at WPP Group. Nick holds a BA in French and Spanish from Trinity College, Dublin.
Mark Sanders transferred from Aberdeen to New Star in 2003 following the acquisition of Aberdeen's fixed interest funds. He has 29 years' investment experience, having worked for Friends Provident, Argosy Asset Management and Clerical Medical Investment Company. He currently works in the high yield sector with James Gledhill.
Nigel Marsh became a member of the New Star fixed income team in 2004 when the funds that he managed were transferred from Pavilion to New Star. Prior to joining Pavilion as a fund manager in 2000, he spent 20 years working in investment banking, latterly with ABN Amro for 6 years.
