
Ian Beattie has specialised in Asian equities for 16 years and has been Head of Asian excluding Japan funds for New Star Institutional Managers* for more than nine years. Before joining New Star, Ian worked at Royal Insurance Asset Management as a fund manager where he was responsible for a variety of Far East portfolios. Ian holds a BSc in Economics from City University.

Lucy Bernays joined New Star Asset Management in 2001 as a fund manager specialising in Asia excluding Japan. She is an investment manager on the New Star Asian equities and emerging markets team. Lucy holds a BSc in Psychology from Goldsmith College, University of London.

Andrew Gibbs joined New Star in 2004. He has 20 years' experience in managing Japanese and Asian portfolios. Prior to joining New Star, he worked for Pavilion and held various fund management positions both in London and the Far East. Andrew holds a BA in History from the University of Cambridge and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Chris Burling is head of Japan institutional and retail long funds, and fund manager of the New Star Japan Recovery Fund. Chris has 25 years' investment experience, including over 11 years investing in Japanese equities. Prior to joining New Star in 2006, Chris was a fund manager at Gartmore Investment Limited for over 13 years. His experience includes investing in North American and Asia ex-Japan equity markets in addition to Japan. Chris lived and worked in Tokyo in 2000. He holds a BA degree in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University.
